Award-winning Voiceover Artist and Media Entrepreneur

Chilu Lemba is an award-winning voiceover artist and media entrepreneur based in Johannesburg South Africa.

A graduate of the AAA School of Advertising, Lemba is in his twenty-sixth year of collaborating with media institutions, production companies, and advertising agencies as a voiceover artist, presenter, consultant, and executive producer. Among his diverse work and media exposure, he is the voice of the Eyewitness News brand heard daily on Talk Radio 702 and Cape Talk for the past ten years. Added to that, Lemba voices thousands of communication ads annually for brands such as Nissan, BCX, SuperSport, Old Mutual, UNHCR and more.

His passion for knowledge sharing led him to create The Lusaka Radio Summit, and together with a passionate team they secured sponsorship from Zambia’s biggest indigenous commercial bank, Zanaco, forming a vibrant annual regional gathering of media professionals and vendors.

In its last in-person iteration (before COVID), the event had participants and vendors gather in Lusaka from Botswana, Zimbabwe as well as South Africa; and broadcast companies from as far as Italy and Germany attended.

Lemba’s most recent business venture is a recording facility he owns situated in Northwold called The PodHouse, where podcasts such as The Post Up Zone hosted by Cyrus Rogers and Kaunda Chama for SuperSport Podcasts, and recently Kojo Baffoe’s Listen to Your Footsteps are recorded. His own podcast The Voiceover Plug through which he shares stories and advice to voiceover artists as well as Key Africans Unlocked – an interview format podcast, which he co-hosts with Zubz the Last Letta, are also recorded at The PodHouse. The PodHouse has been involved with producing two separate audio projects for the Department of Basic Education in the form of a dramatized audiobook as well as an interview-based series for internal communications. For the remainder of the year (2022), Lemba plans to expand the volume of content produced under the PodHouse umbrella where stories unique to Africa will be produced for a growing podcast audience. He has also developed content for his YouTube channel extending the Voiceover Plug into a visual presentation with fun, engaging and informative videos.

Chilu recently won the Voice Arts Award in the category: Outstanding Commercial – TV or Streaming – Best African Voiceover (2022). The event is hosted by The Society of Voice Arts and Sciences and also the Best TV Promo (2022) Voice Over Award recipient hosted by The Association of African Podcasters and Voice Artists.
